St. Malachy Religious Education

  • Welcome Families!

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
    -Matthew 19:14

We are thankful for the help of our youth volunteers and especially Ron Mudge & Darwin Messerly for transforming our classroom spaces during this time that the church building has been empty. Please see pictures in the album at right of our updates to paint, carpet, furnishings, artwork, and communications. More work is still to come!

  • Cathletics VBS

Twenty-one youth from St. Malachy are particiapting in Cathletics VBS this summer, along with many brothers and sisters in Christ at Sacred Heart & St. John's. We are thankful to Cat Chat for making this program available online for families to do at home. You can see pictures of soem of the fun we are having in the photo album at right.

  • Sacramental dates

First Communion & Confirmation are postponed until a later date. Kelley will be in touch with families to reschedule.

  • The Domestic Church

“Catholic parents must learn to form their family as a “domestic church,” a church in the home as it were, where God is honored, his law is respected, prayer is a normal event, virtue is transmitted by word and example, and everyone shares the hopes, the problems and sufferings of everyone else. All this is not to advocate a return to some outdated style of living: It is to return to the roots of human development & human happiness!”
    – Saint Pope John Paul II

  • Our Program

Our goal is to support parents in their role as their children's primary teachers and role models in the faith. Our religious education program offers classes for children in preschool through twelfth grade.

  • Our Catechists

Over twenty caring adults from St. Malachy parish participate as Catechists in our program. Our Catechists participate in ongoing training provided by the Sioux City Diocese in order to provide the best opportunity for learning and growing in the Catholic faith for the young people of St. Malachy.

  • Our Families

200 children from nine school communities come together on Wednesday nights to grow in their faith together.

  • Pray for our Seminarians

    Sioux City Diocese Seminarians

We are looking for families to sponsor our two new seminarians, Anthony Vera & Tommy Kolash, in prayer for the upcoming year. Contact Kelley if you are willing!
